I graduated from medical school (PA program) in August 2008.

8. What is your favorite memory of high school?
I really enjoyed the extracurricular activities:
Track meets
Drama/Plays
Choir—state competitions
Band practices
Playing in the band during football games and basketball games

9. What are some of your favorite songs from high school?
I was mostly a Top 40 music-lover.
A-Ha: Take On Me
Bananarama: Cruel Summer
Bangles: Eternal Flame
Billy Idol: White Wedding
Bon Jovi: Wanted Dead or Alive
Bonnie Tyler: Total Eclipse of the Heart
Debbie Gibson: Foolish Beat
Depeche Mode: All I Ever Wanted; People Are People
Erasure: Chains of Love
Madonna: La Isla Bonita
Phil Collins: One More Night
The Police: Every Breath You Take
Wham!: Careless Whisper
Any music performed by Chicago/Peter Cetera

10. Who is the teacher/class you remember most from high school?
My favorite teacher was Mrs. Andrea Borg’s sophomore English class. I think I learned more that year from her than I did from any other teacher in that high school. I also really enjoyed Mrs. Risa Udall’s English class as well. They were both extremely tough teachers (at that point in schooling for me) and I realized how great it really was to have a teacher who taught well.

11. If you could go back, what would you change about your high school years?
I wish I had been more outgoing with other groups of friends. I hung out with my group of friends, but didn’t venture out to get to know others very well. I was somewhat shy in high school. As my wife will attest, I am definitely much more outgoing and open to other ideas and interests.

12. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?
Good question! In 5 years I would like to be working in family medicine possibly in pediatrics. In 10 years I would like to be out of debt and enjoying grandkids.

13. What is one accomplishment since high school that you are proud of?
My first, and foremost accomplishment is my marriage to my wife. We only knew each other for about 3 months before I proposed and six weeks later we were married. She is the light of my life, and keeps me directed. We have a fun relationship and I enjoy her company immensely. My kids come second as my best accomplishment. They keep me young, and are incredibly good kids. I am also proud of my being able to graduate from medical school this past year. It took a lot of work and effort, it wasn’t very easy, but it was a growing experience for me.

14. What is one piece of advice you would give a future graduate of SJHS?
My advice would be to plan now (while in high school) what you want to be. Explore every avenue of interest to you and pursue it with the intent of becoming the best in that area. I wish we had had better career development in our high school.

15. Anything else you want to say to your former classmates?
Keep in touch. You will always have a friend in Ryan Brower!! (Email: azbrower@hotmail.com) Seriously, let me know if I can help you out in any way!! My door is ALWAYS open!
According to the class prophesy: I was supposed to have performed in a remake of Dirty Dancing. Yeah right!! Whoever wrote that prophesy anyway? Let it be known that I DO NOT CLOG anymore, and I have forgotten most of my country dancing moves! (Just ask my wife, much to her chagrin!) I haven't clogged in years! I am way too uncoordinated on my feet nowadays. Who'd have thunk!!
